Angry Birds delights

IMG_1552
Johan saw these yummy-looking Angry Birds mini-cupcakes in a food bazaar during a recent visit in Glorietta 4.

He didn’t leave the food bazaar until he convinced his mom to buy the mini-cupcakes. Of course he wanted them because they are Angry Birds.

They turned out to be quite yummy indeed, however. Still, for P50 each and considering that they are hardly bite-sized, his mom was not particularly thrilled.

Johan’s First Taekwondo Promotion Test (video)

Johan enrolled in Taekwondo for the first time this year. He has been raring to get his first colored belt but he missed his first opportunity for promotion in October because of a family outing.

He finally got his chance on November 25 at the San Beda gym in Alabang He was one proud jin.

Here’s a video clip of his entire promotion test. He was actually quite a bit disappointed because he thought he was going to see some real action. Of course white belters don’t do sparring yet during their promotion test.

His sister, Marielle, took a promotion test on November 25, too. In her case she earned her high-blue belt.

Shell-Lego Ferrari Collection

Of course Johan could not NOT have these eye-candy Ferrari Lego models. His mom eagerly collected all of them, including the Ferrari crew.shell lego ferrariHe got 2 pieces of some models, in fact, since he inevitably lost some Lego pieces before his mom could complete his collection.

Moms can get really gullible some time. All for love, of course.

Just like with most of his other toys, however, the fixation was short lived. He already got bored of his Lego Ferraris and he is now all too willing to put them in our “Share Your Toys to the Less Fortunate Kids this Christmas” box.

What else is new?

Drop Slide

Johan was just slightly curious to try this slide that seemed to terrify many of the kids in the play area. But his curiosity quickly turned to boredom as he conquered the slide without the slightest hitch.

This short video clip was taken at Kids City in Hard Rock Hotel Macau.

Johan’s 1st Maria Montessori Open House

Least Common Multiple? Verbs and Adverbs? 4-digit multiplication? In Grade 1? You gotta be kidding me! What have they done to our kids?!

Johan had his first Montessori Open House on October 5, 2012. He is attending his first year as a Level 1 student (the equivalent of Grade 1) in Maria Montessori Children’s School Foundation, Inc. (MMCSFI). Twice during the school year Maria Montessori students have an Open House.

Hansel and Gretel Musical

JOHAN went to see Hansel and Gretel, a Children’s Musical, on October 20, 2012, in Star Theater. He was with his mom, Ate Marielle, and Lola Paz.

The Hansel and Gretel musical was another production of Kids Acts Philippines, Inc. (KAPI). Johan and his Ate Marielle are currently enrolled in the Weekends Musical Theater Workshop being conducted by KAPI. Who knows at the end of the workshop some time in March, Johan and his Ate Marielle may find themselves cast in one of the KAPI musical productions for 2013?

Football Mudness

Back in June, at the beginning of SY2012-2013, Johan enrolled in Futsal for one of his extra-curricular enrichment activities in Maria Montessori Children’s School. In September, he was among the few students drafted to form a team to represent his school in the invitational football tournament organized and conducted by the Kaya Football Academy.

The tournament was held at the Alabang Country Club on September 16, 2012.

It was Johan’s first real football tournament so his entire family went to watch him play.

There was a catch, however. Continue reading

Fearless

Johan is starting to scare his mom and dad with his seeming lack of fear when it comes to extreme adventures.

During his recent family outing in White Rock Resort in Subic Johan could not seem to get enough of the resort’s three extreme slides.

Extreme roller coaster rides do not seem to scare him either. He is actually very frustrated that he is not yet allowed in some rides because he falls a few hair strands  short of the minimum height requirement (usually 4 feet). He can’t wait to reach four feet and measures up practically every day to check.

Count Johan von Dracula

Before going on a mid-school year break by end of October, Johan’s A. Mabini class in Maria Montessori Children’s School had a Halloween Costume party. Johan grudgingly wore a Dracula costume that his mom and dad bought at the last minute the night before.

Oh boy, he was one extremely handsome vampire, don’t you agree?

Johan tries the Jet Ski with Ate Marielle and Dad

In their recent family outing in White Rock Subic, Johan got to try riding a jet ski for the very first time. He wasn’t alone, in fact, as his Ate Marielle and even his Dad were to try the jet ski for the first time also.

Johan was itching to drive the jet ski himself but he was just too small yet. Maybe next year.
