JOHAN loves dogs. And dogs get drawn to him naturally. He must have gotten this trait from his late Lolo Racquel/Rocky.
During his family’s vacation-outing in Lake Caliraya in late August, a friendly dog kept on following Johan wherever he goes.
From its appearance it is probably a pure-bred Beagle or a cross-breed between a Beagle and an “askal” (most probably the latter). Out of ignorance with dog breeds, Johan’s dad suggested that it might be a Hush Puppy. Johan liked the ring of “Hush Puppy” and settled with it. He promptly christened it HP.
At first everyone in Johan’s group was wondering where HP came from or who owns him. Was he brought by one of the guests to the resort? Is that even allowed? The resort is private and it appears to be in an island in Lake Caliraya (guests have to be ferried in and out of it) so it is unlikely that HP strayed from the neighboring communities near the resort.
After about an hour since he saw HP, Johan was already playing with him, together with his Ninong Doc Alex who is also an animal lover. At one point they were already plotting, though in jest, to bring HP home when they leave the resort. A casual inquiry with some resort personnel, however, revealed that HP turned out to be owned by the resort owners. Better luck next time Johan and Ninong Doc Alex!
That didn’t diminish Johan’s eagerness to play with HP every opportunity there was. It was as if they’ve know each other for a very long time.
Johan wishes to have a dog just like HP.
